Bruce Brandfon Obituary

Bruce Brandfon, 70, passed away peacefully in Reading, PA on November 10, 2023 with family by his side.

Bruce lived his final days in Reading, Pennsylvania, not far from his childhood hometown, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.  Bruce and his brother Michael were born to Pauline and Robert Brandfon.  Prior to his time in Reading, he lived a full and adventurous life with his family-- traversing the country and living in nearly 20 different states over his lifetime.

Bruce was a decisive man who could trust his instincts in both business and in life. He knew within the first two weeks of meeting Angela that she would be his future wife.  In 1979, they were married and a few years later, their children Marcus and Samantha were born.

He studied Business at Ohio State University on a soccer scholarship and was a proud, lifelong Buckeye.  Bruce also was an Eagles, Phillies, Bears, and Blackhawks fan.  He was a prolific Lord of the Rings aficionado and passed that deep fanatic appreciation to his children.  However, no fictional or sports fandom could ever compete with his love of his family; he was a true supporter and advocate of them throughout his life.

Bruce had a long and celebrated career in the grocery industry serving in an executive leadership role for a variety of regional and national wholesalers. His passion for marketing, sales, and community was ever present in his work and the relationships he fostered throughout the years.  He found deep meaning in mentoring the next generation of professionals, including his most beloved mentees: his children.

Bruce’s favorite pastimes included fishing, taking long drives (“going down the road a bit”), and spending as much time as possible outdoors.  He was an avid card and backgammon player and was highly competitive (“The Dog”). He had a knack for making new friends wherever he went, including on his many international travels.  While he could be serious when he needed to be, he preferred to play and to make other people laugh.  He relished wearing his fedora and turning what could be normal daily life activities into “quests.”  He truly knew how to make people feel special, connected to a mission, and a part of an important journey together.

In memory of Bruce and his dedication to ending food insecurity, his family would be deeply grateful if you would consider donating to the Philabundance Food Bank in lieu of flowers or other condolence gifts or cards for his family. http://phlb.convio.net/goto/InMemoriamBruceBrandfon

A memorial service to celebrate Bruce’s life will be held from 1-3PM on Sunday, November 26th at the Mansion at Historic Poole Forge in Narvon, Pennsylvania.  In keeping with Bruce’s style, attire will be casual and the event will be in a visitation style (informal, share memories and laughs).
