Carl M. Roth, Jr., 66, of Mohnton, passed away on November 17th in the Reading Hospital. He was married to Susan J. (Frantz) Roth for 41 years. Born in Reading, PA., he was the son of the late Carl M. Roth, Sr. and the late Gloria M. (Wolfgang) Roth. Carl was a 1974 graduate of Reading High School, and went on to receive a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Penn State University, followed by a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from West Chester University. He began his career as a police officer for the Mount Penn Borough, followed by 38 years of employment at Carpenter Technology. He retired in 2020 as the Manager of Corporate Security. Carl was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Shillington.
Carl loved Penn State football, going to the casino, traveling, making people laugh with his great sense of humor, and spending time with his family, especially his four young grandchildren. Those close to Carl describe him as genuine, easy to be with, witty, and “one of a kind”.
Carl is survived by his wife, his two children: Kristen (wife of Douglas Malora), Ambler, PA; Justin (husband of Elyse Roth), Ambler, PA; grandchildren: Parker, Finn, and Marlee Malora and Oliver Roth. Funeral services will be held on Friday November 25th at 11:00 AM at Immanuel UCC., 99 S. Waverly St. Shillington, PA. A viewing will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM in the church. Interment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton, PA.
