G. Edwin Helms, Jr., 76 of Geigertown, PA, passed away September 29, 2025. He was the husband of Phyllis M. (Green) Helms. Born in Coatsville, PA., he was the son of the late G. Edwin Helms, Sr., and the late Phyllis (Taylor) Helms.
After growing up on a dairy farm in Honey Brook, PA, Ed worked in manufacturing. He then spent many years working in Human Resources at Morgan Corp followed by Walmart in Morgantown, PA. He was also a long time president of Pine Swamp Church in Elverson, PA. Ed was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers. He enjoyed many things throughout his life, especially traveling to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee to meet up with family and going to Hershey, PA to ride the Comet at Hersheypark and cheering on the Hershey Bears in the historic Hersheypark Arena. Through the years, he cherished the companionship of his dogs, most recently his Doberman Tragg.
He was predeceased in addition to his wife by two brothers, James and Charles Helms. Surviving are two daughters, Helen M. Helms, Geigertown, PA, Dawn wife of Tim Lawrence, Arnaudville, LA; one son G. Edwin Helms, III, Birdsboro, PA; 2 Grandchildren, Mason and Willow of Arnaudville, LA. He is also survived by his brother Steve Helms, Elverson, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pine Swamp Church, PO Box 213, Elverson, PA 19520.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Ed and his beloved wife Phyllis on Saturday January 3, 2026 Memorial Service at 1pm at Pine Swamp Church, 400 Pine Swamp Road, Elverson PA. Reception to follow at approximately 2pm at St Paul’s United Methodist Church, Birdsboro PA. Please feel free to join us at either or both locations.
