Gretchen M. Moyer, 68, of Sinking Spring, passed away on Nov. 2, 2018, in her home surrounded by family. She was the wife of Roger L. Moyer for 27 years. Born in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen (MacDonald) Schnitter. Gretchen retired from Wernersville State Hospital as a nurse. She worked many years caring for the mentally ill who were unable to care for themselves. She was an avid reader, ERA activist, and admirer of Celtic culture. Throughout her life, she enjoyed breeding and raising dogs, including terriers, poodles, and spaniels. Her dogs Rosie and Quinn were a great comfort to her during her last months. Surviving in addition to her husband is her son, Jesse Thomas, West Lawn, PA; her daughter, Jaime Bonstein, Perry Hall, MD; her two stepsons, Jamie Moyer and Troy Moyer, Sinking Spring, PA; brother-in-law, Glen Moyer, Kutztown, PA; brothers, James Schnitter, Livermore CA, Allen Schnitter, Nanaimo, BC, Canada, Paul Schnitter, Westerville, OH, Peter Schnitter, Watertown, NY, and Terrence Schnitter, Flying Hills, PA; sisters, Dr. Penelope Frese, Hudson, OH, Karen Sheedy, Charlottesville, VA, Jeanne MacDonald, St. Paul, MN; and ten grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 2810 St. Albans Dr., Sinking Spring PA 19608. Interment will be private.
