PatriciaAnn Zong, 77, of Shillington, PA, passed away in her home on July 3, 2022.
Born in Reading, Patricia was the adopted daughter of the late Emma Andora Moyer and the mother of Richard W. Zong, Jr, deceased.
Pat’s mother owned and operated Moyer’s Home for the Aged on Spruce Street in Reading for many years and Pat grew up as the favorite grandchild of all the elderly residents. She became an accomplished ballet dancer and mastered the piano and organ. A graduate of Reading High School, Pat began her employment doing title searches for American Bank and later became the Assistant Training Officer. She worked for Penske Leasing as a Title Clerk after American Bank was acquired. For many years, Pat and her life partner, Parthenis Zachariades, operated the Swiss Chalet in Orwigsburg. She worked 18 years as an Executive Assistant with Sovereign Bank and then worked for a Kutztown University non-profit until she retired.
“Miss Pat”, as she was lovingly known, liked to go to the casinos, amassed a huge collection of wooden, stuffed and ceramic cats, and smoked cigarettes to the very end.
Mark J. Hummel Funeral Home, 824 Carsonia Avenue, Reading, is in charge of arrangements. No public service will be held.
Memorial gifts in Pat’s memory may be made to the Islamic Center of Reading, Prison Ministry, 18 S. Noble St., Reading, PA 19611.
