It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Virginia L. Rakowsky, 75 of Frackville, PA., Virginia passed away on March 16, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA. She was the wife of Edward D. Rakowsky for 57 years. Ginny was born at the Ashland Hospital and lived her entire life in Frackville PA, she was the daughter of the late Russell J. and Ethel Mae (Davidson) Bradbury. Virginia was a 1967 graduate of North Schuylkill High School. She was a Union Rep for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and had worked for Model Garment along with many years at the Frackville election polls and the census. Virginia, commonly known as “Gin” or “Ginny” by most was always a part of the Frackville community and was loved by so many, she served for many years volunteering her time at Altamont Fire Company block parties and fish dinners, with her favorite Dunkin Donuts Coffee in hand. Those who knew Ginny well will remember all of her famous birthday parties for everyone including her beloved cats, along with her creative ability to give everyone a nickname, some had multiple, and sometimes they were also lucky enough to be added to her many song creations. Surviving in addition to her husband is one son, Edward D. Rakowsky, Jr, husband of Ida Rakowsky, Schuylkill Haven, PA; one daughter, Lorena D. Rakowsky, wife of John Kershitsky, Camp Hill, PA; brother, David Bradbury; sister, Linda D'ARosa; 2 Grandchildren, John M. and Anastasia M. Rakowsky. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Mark J Hummel Funeral Home, 48 N Broad Mountain Ave., Frackville. Viewings will be on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Frackville.
