Virginia "Ginny" Sacco Obituary

Virginia “Ginny” Sacco, 98, of Reading, passed away peacefully on August 11th at Berks Heim, where she resided. Born in Philadelphia on Christmas Eve 1922 the daughter of  Emedio and Madeleine Moscirella, she came into this world on the tail of one  pandemic and left on the tail of another.  Sharp-minded and fun loving, she never lost her love of adventure and travelled in her late 80’s to China and Africa.  She was determined to “stay around” at least until she turned 100. Ginny was  eager to see the end of covid restrictions and to resume her beloved social activities. She was the widow of Americo Sacco.  A talented seamstress, she enjoyed working in the fashion industry in New York City and later at the Designer Outlets in Reading.  Known by her loving and large family as Aunt Ridgie, she was predeceased by siblings Eleanor Freeman, August Moscirella, Amelia Dadamio, Albert Moscirella, Clara Ludwig, and Julia Plotkin.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews in whose lives she was a magical, generous and adored huge presence.  In recent years she was cared for by nieces Madelyn Fudeman, Shelley Stone and nephew Robert Plotkin, all of Cumru Township, Donna Levanti and Albert Moscirella of Wyomissing, Patti and Steven Moscirella of Collegeville and Frank and Maureen Moscirella of Miami, Florida. A funeral procession will gather on Tuesday, August 17th at 10 AM at the Cramp Hummel Funeral Home, 934 Centre Avenue, Reading and depart in a procession to Gethsemane Cemetery for a graveside service and burial.  In consideration for covid vulnerable family members, the service will be very small, but a memorial event will be celebrated at a later date with a big Italian feast when it is safe to gather.  Online photos and memories can be shared at www.CrampHummelFuneralHome.com.  Donations to the Animal Rescue League and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital are requested in lieu of flowers.
