William R. Ready, of Reading, PA, passed away at age 76 on January 18, 2022 at Reading Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John F. and Florence (Powers) Ready. Bill worked for the 3M company copy division and its joint ventures until his retirement. He loved his annual vacations, from the Jersey shore to the Pocono mountains, and enjoyed cruising. He liked many music genres - 70’s, 80’s, pop, and jazz, driving his “Cubbie” lawn tractor, and tinkering with home repairs. He had a passion for the protection of all animals and loved his pets. And we all loved his quirky sense of humor and his role as “the goofy granddad.”
Family was very important to Bill and he made every effort to join family events. He was one of three children - predeceased by his brother John (Jackie) Ready and survived by his sister, Nancy Ready. Also surviving: his wife, best friend, and soul mate, Sharon (Brinker) Ready; mother-in-law, Patricia (Canary) Elias; three children - son, Christopher L. Ready; daughter, Jennifer A. (Ready) Landis and her husband Mark, and son, Keith E. Ready; grandchildren, Matthew, Tobi, Zoe, Emily Quinn, Penelope, Josh, and Avery; niece, Laura E. James, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date with notice to family and friends. Gift contributions can be made in Bill’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Best Friends Animal Society, or Animal Rescue League of Reading.
